August 17 - Tools and Tricks

“Tools and Tricks!” is the August Program presented by Sabrina Diehl

What do trim boards, bamboo skewers, cuticle sticks, and kids’ school glue have to do with
quilting? PLENTY! Come learn some “tricks of the trade” to help you further your quilting
adventure. Want to know what “board basting” is and how you can baste a large quilt sitting
down? Come find out! No taping to tables, no backache from leaning over, and a
beautifully basted, flat quilt is the result!
August Workshop: "Expanding Your Horizons" with Sabrina Diehl

We are going to complete three panels for a decorative pillow in class. This class is not for
first time beginners so you need to be familiar with setting up your machine for free motion
quilting. Each panel contains a different skill set and builds upon the previous panel. We
will go from basic “fill the negative space” to thread painting.
Class fee ($45) includes a kit. It contains the marked panels and stabilizer for the panels.
Sabrina will also provide a “thread bar” of many different threads for you to use in class.
Supplies: Sewing machine in good working order

Free Motion Quilting foot
One yard of cotton quilting fabric in a print that you really love
Assortment of threads to coordinate with your fabric
Thread snips and any other notions you need for FMQ
