March 10th Library Event
It Really IS Your Grandmother's Quilt
Saturday, March 10th
Pioneer Central Library on Webster
Lowry Room, 10am to 4pm

Our March Library Event is getting closer.  I'm a little behind since our January meeting was canceled, but we are troopers and we will muddle through.
Let me explain the theme.  It Really IS Your Grandmother's Quilt. (It can also just be an antique quilt of yours)  For the month of March we would like to display quilt pairs at the Central Library, hanging a newly created quilt next to a similar antique /older quilt, so the public can compare and contrast the quilts.
And don't forget we will celebrate National Quilt Month with a free sew day on March 10th at the Central Library.
About the free sewing day
As always we are having a free sew day at the Central Library on March 10.  We can arrive at 9am to set up.  We will close at 4pm, so we can clean up.  Remember this is a relaxed sew day.  Just a get-together with friends and sew on whatever you desire.  The goal of this sew day is to introduce the public to our guild, maybe gain a few members, promote the quilt show, and also just to be in contact with the public to show our beautiful creations.  It is an easy day, with fun and laughter.  I hope you can come, for part or the entire day.
In addition to quilters, we'll have our regular guest crafters - the embroidery guild.  I'm also looking for a crochet group to join us.
About hanging quilts for the month of March
I need 10 sets of quilts - one old, one new x 10 - same or similar pattern.  Like your Grandmother's or Antique string quilt hung next to your Kaffe Fasset string quilt.  I have 3 antique quilts; a Grandmother's Flower Garden, a Churn Dash, and a Dresden Plate that I need matched.  If you have a quilt that you don't mind loaning for the month of March in those patterns, please let me know.  If we don't have matches we could display one of your antique quilts next to one of your newer completed quilts.  We will be hanging the quilts at the Central Library on Sunday March 4, and taking them down on Saturday March 31. You can bring your quilts to the February meeting, bring them on the day we hang them, or I'll make arrangements to pick them up.
Craft Book Swap
A few new things this year, first the Friends of the Library will bring craft books to swap.  You bring your old crochet book, etc, swap for a different one.  There will some books to purchase too. Secondly, in April we are having a young person's sewing event at the Pioneer Westside Library, and we will be able to display a few quilts there too. More details later.
So please come, support your guild.  I promise it will be a delightful day.
