See how to take show pieces to new levels and add charming surprises to simple pieces. Susan will share real live quilts with close ups through the projector so you’re sure to see oodles of detail. Marathon Sewing Day and
"Sewing and a Movie!"

Events happening August 19th
 Workshop:  Marathon Sewing  9 AM to 9 PM.  Work on your favorite sewing project.   It is an "all about you" sewing day. 

Paid Class:  English Paper Piecing, 9 to 4 pm taught by Starla Henderson and Georjana Mauldin.  Contact Chris Craig if you wish to sign up for this class!

Potluck Salad Supper, 5 pm.

Program:  Sewing and a Movie, the 2-hour movie will start at 6pm and ends at 8pm.  At 8pm, about the time our regular business meeting starts, we'll have a short business meeting, a few announcements, show and share, and the Birthday Club.

Free Motion on a Domestic Machine

There is space available for this class.  Cost is $45 for members.

In addition to teaching the essentials of free-motion quilting on a domestic sewing machine, Carol will also demo free-motion thread painting, which involves many of the same methods.

This technique is included in the workshop as a bonus, and you may choose to participate if you wish.   Carol's photo of wildflowers has been printed on cotton fabric (approximately 5.5" x 8.5") and will be available for $5.00 (price includes stabilizer). Carol will also bring a large selection of threads to share at no additional cost to participants.

Practical Color Theory for Quilters


Carol is a fifth generation Texas quilter. Her quilts have been exhibited internationally in magazines, books, and museums, and her work is in numerous private collections. She enjoys a variety of techniques, and often uses her own hand-dyed or hand-painted fabrics.

Workshop 9 am to 4 pm:  2 Fabric Bargello
Try a modern take on the bargello technique taught by Patricia Wilson!  This class takes 2 fabrics and only requires strip piecing.  Fun with beautiful results!

Cost: $25 Guild Members         $35 Non-Guild Members

!!GREAT OPPORTUNITY!! Pre-Program Event 5:30 PM:  Martha Sparks has graciously offered a free additional service to guild members.  She is offering a free mini-triage session starting at 5:30 pm until the meeting starts at 7 pm.  Guild members can bring their old quilts that they would like tips on restoration, worth and quilt age.  This will be a group discussion. She will also have items for sale.
