Vicki began quilting in 1990 and and states, "Once I discovered rotary cutting and machine piecing, I fell in love with it!” Her first opportunity to teach was a beginning quilting class in 2000 where she fell in love with teaching also. She entered into one juried competition and was very proud she received 2nd place in the hand-pieced category.
Vicki saw her first Zentangle in a blog and immediately replied with a request to make it into a quilted wallhanging. The blogmaster thought she was kidding. Vicki states, "Imagine her surprise when it arrived in the mail. With that one, I let the pattern in the fabric create the 'tangle.' I instantly had to try to create my own Zentangle, got hooked and became a Certified Zentangle Teacher in the 2nd class that was offered for certification." She also attended the first Zentangle Master conference. She teaches this as a form of stress management and has had the privilege to teach it to a number of the children of our OK National Guard members.
Vicki had two of her Zentangle quilts published in the first ZT Quilt book but says her head buzzes with the number of ways that the two arts can be merged. She's looking forward to sharing her ideas with the Norman Quilt Guild and hopes that one or more of them may inspire our members and guests!
